    How we conceded the 4th goal


    I got so angry watching that goal. What happend:

    1. Our 5 man press gets overplayed with 1 pass and there is no one left to stop the run in midfield because our DM and backline is completely disconnected from the press.

    2. Szobo tries to chase O'Reilly

    3. Gomez is overplayed with the most basic run and pass. Szobo stops running and let's O'Reilly go as if he thinks his job is done

    4. Gomez tries to cover O'Reillys run after Szobo stopped running which made it impossible to hold the planned double mark on doku.

    5. Gomez is now responsible to stop the pass on O'Reilly but doesn't take a single look at his opponents run and decides to turn his body away from him. O'Reilly receives the pass and is now alone behind our backline.

    6. Van Dijk doesn't seem to care about Haaland and makes a step backwards while Haaland makes to most obvious step forward to receive the ball. They didn't even have a single touchpoint.

      I’m not sure if I’m 100% correct in the timings but there was a time around the 35th minute when the team initiated the press at the goalkeeper, I believe it was jones, they went up there and scored straight after and the game was flipped on its head in an instance

      Hey thanks for the analysis. The players had simply stopped playing at that point.

      Grav was covering both Rodri & Bernardo in our press throughout the game, that was really the risk we took.

      But it was ok in the first 40 minutes or so because defensive transition & the players tracked the run.

      This fourth goal tbh is down to Dom not running with the lb as we to a more strict man to man system in the 2nd half, which makes his encounter with the fans after the match more puzzling.

      like the 4th goal matters at all lmao..

      the 1st goal settled everything, the team got demoralized and that’s it.

      Dom was saving his energy to mock the fans. He has too many brain dead moments like this

      We need a Fabinho type player. Just sit in front of the defence and stop these breaks. That one pass to bypass our midfield has happened all season.

      For some reason Gravenberch is constantly going forward and leaving us open. He basically plays CDM for the opposing team
