Arsenal’s dream of winning the FA Cup this season came to an end after losing to Southampton.
The Gunners were the favourites to win the game, but they were nowhere near their best and deserved to be knocked out of the competition.
Christian Norgaard got a rare start in midfield against the Saints, and although he worked really hard, he didn’t do enough to change the course of the match.
After the defeat, Norgaard spoke about Arsenal’s performance, and he blamed the loss on how his side conceded the second goal.
Who was the worst performer for Arsenal against Southampton?
Christian Norgaard says Arsenal conceded a ‘stupid’ goal vs Southampton
The two goals Arsenal conceded against Southampton were both avoidable.
Ben White missed a header for the first one, while the Gunners’ midfield and defence were all over the place for the second.
Norgaard was involved in the defending for the second goal, and although he isn’t directly to blame, his positioning in the build-up was not the best either.
All in all, it was a poor goal to concede, especially that late in the game, and Norgaard admitted that it was an unacceptable mistake to make.
He said on TNT Sports: “It was at times a little bit too chaotic. They were very sharp in transitions, which we didn’t manage very well.
“We had the momentum in the second half, especially when we equalised, but conceded a very stupid goal from a goal kick, which we cannot allow or accept.”

Norgaard hasn’t even played 1000 minutes of football since joining Arsenal, but that is not a surprise.
The Dane knew his role perfectly well when he joined the club, and we’re sure he realises that he may not play much in the remainder of the season.
Arsenal only have the Premier League and Champions League left to play for now, and Mikel Arteta is expected to go with his strongest side in every one of those games.
That means Norgaard is likely to miss out more often than not – he may not even make the squad on a few occasions.
We’re sure the former Brentford man will not mind if that is the case, especially if Arsenal end up winning both the Premier League and Champions League at the end of the season.
