Manchester United’s loanees had an eventful day out on the weekend as it was a case of extremes, personified by Jacob Devaney and two others.
The loan system at Man Utd hasn’t been the biggest success this season, but some players have still managed to stand out.
Radek Vitek is undoubtedly the biggest success story, and he won his first game under Roy Hodgson on the weekend.
However, that was far from the most notable loanee story, as Jacob Devaney shone again, while two of his fellow loanees had nights to forget.

What is the cause of the consistent failures? The players, the club or the loan clubs?

Devaney’s loan to St Mirren until the end of the season was the biggest pleasant surprise of the January window because a Scottish Premiership side took a punt on a youngster with zero senior football experience.
He started off on fire in Scotland before cooling off considerably, but he has started picking up steam again.
In their most recent game against Aberdeen, effectively a relegation six-pointer, Devaney pulled off one of his best performances in a 2-0 win.
He started at the base of the midfield in an all-action performance that saw him cover almost every blade of grass and then some.
With 79 touches of the ball, completing 56 passes, and seven defensive actions, Devaney kept the game ticking in possession and disrupted Aberdeen’s game every chance he got. [Stats courtesy Fotmob]
The win draws St Mirren level on points with Aberdeen, and with a massive game against Celtic up next, the Man Utd loanee can cement his top-level credentials by following up this performance with another brilliant game.
Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for the weekend travels of Ethan Ennis and Dan Gore.
Ethan Ennis and Dan Gore have games to forget
Ethan Ennis is spending the season at Fleetwood, while Dan Gore has brushed off fitness worries to impress at Rotherham this season.
WHICH Manchester United loanee have you been most impressed by this season and why?🔥⚽️
Ennis has been brilliant for Fleetwood all season, but he had a game to forget against Bristol Rovers on the weekend as he missed a penalty.
Fleetwood lost just 1-0, so his miss ended up being very costly. He was still one of the bright sparks in attack, but the missed penalty will haunt him.
Dan Gore, on the other hand, saw a red card in the 88th minute of the 0-0 draw against Stevenage. Gore is known for being combative, but going down to ten men close to the full-time whistle left his team in a precarious position.
In other news, Sekou Kone and Enzo Kana-Biyik missed Lausanne’s game with slight knocks, Ethan Wheatley came off the bench to play 10 minutes for Bradford, and Ethan Williams continues to be MIA for Falkirk after a good start to the season.
With the next pre-season clashing with the World Cup, a good end to this season for the loanees could see them catapult themselves in Man Utd’s plans for it.
