I often think about this interview. After only 3 games of the season Jamie was calling out Arne Slot about his tactics. I've defended Slot all season but after the wolves and the Tottenham results I felt it was time to move on from Slot. After today I don't think anyone wants Slot to stay on

  1. He got destroyed by our fanbase for this btw.

“At least Slot won us a prem, you never achieved that Carra” they said.

Always beware people who feel the need to over explain themselves. It is for their benefit, not yours.

I own him an apology tbh

Yeah, I remember this interview but told myself it was early in the season and that we’d get better once the new players and tactics adjustments settled.

    I was dead wrong.

Carra gets a lot of hate but he is the most knowledgeable pundit in english football

Carragher loves the club and knows ball. Kids these days who never seen him play show him zero respect.

I can’t believe how long ago this was and we never got better. It’s been 84 years. It feels like it.

  8. He literally went to PSG unprompted at the end. It broke him.

I’d like if he stepped down TBH. It’s a mess and nobody wants him at the club. And I don’t mean that in a bad way. I’ll respect the tile win as much as anyone else, but he’s not turning this around.

Even if Xabi wasn’t available this is a no brainer. There’s no point in just seeing out the season with him.

Get Xabi in now and give him the rest of the season to prepare for the next.

    Most painful season since Hodgson.

  9. Here, Slot said the positioning depends on the opposition. So why is it that now, our back line is sitting so deep. Look at the spurs equaliser. Why are we suddenly so cowardly that we sit deep?

The gaps between our lines is an embarrassment, hence the ease at which oppositions walk through us. Slot is lost and it would be one of football’s greatest comebacks if he has a successful career at LFC.

  10. This isn’t really about our current issues at all though. Things have changed but we’re still broken. This discussion was an issue early on and we all could see it, or at least some of us that weren’t blind. Just like some of us who weren’t blind could see last summer was a mess that made us worse overall.

I’m always curious if people ever actually watch football/think for themselves or just digest what they’re told in echo chambers.

  11. Always thought Carra would be the one to go into management, not Gerrard. Think he’d be far better at it as he has a great personality, Gerrard is kinda moody.

Carragher is one of Slot’s biggest supporters. He always blames the players or anyone else, but never Slot. He clearly hasn’t understood anything from this season or the previous one.

  13. He did call it out in the community shield and I didn’t think we would of gelled better by now

So in the video, Slot points out the mistakes that made the counter attack possible. So there is a difference between “his tactics” & individual mistakes.

But also this is not what happened at all against City today, it was actually the opposite. We could not defend the spaces with 11 players behind the ball.

  15. issues were visible from last 3rd of last season but the hope was it was gonna fixed soon.

He was correct on this but there have been plenty of examples where he has been wrong. He said that he doesn’t believe another manager can come in and get more out of these players…

The irony of this video is just how often we have the ball in the final third with nobody in the box or 1 player surrounded by defenders. We like to line up around the area and crowd the ball-side wing but end up with nobody to cross to, pass around, and inevitably lose possession because of a lack of penetrative options. It’s almost like we overcorrected after Carra’s observation.

Barely the tip of the iceberg. This team’s problems are well beyond what’s described here.

  19. Literally collapsed after april last year. If Arsenal weren’t such bottle jobs, we’d have dropped the title last year

  20. Im done with him. Sorry, but everything else than a change in the summer would be ludicrous. If we end up reaching the CL which I hope we do it will be despite having this guy as a manager, not because of him. The quality in the squad is there, we can see it. They need proper guidance. Confidence. Belief. Where has our belief gone that made us strong under Klopp?
