Arteta came to the defence of those who played today, but has also demanded more from the team, saying: “This is the first moment that we have with a certain level of difficulty… So, stand up, make yourself accountable and deliver like we've been doing all season.”

  1. Anything other than the Prem is a bonus. Disappointed, but there’s a bigger goal in mind. COYG!

  2. Realistically the success of this season is judged on the League/CL, not either cup. I’m extremely nervous about the state of our attack, but we’re so close to the finish line now. No point panicking about a Quarter-Final exit.

Edit: Removed final comment on saying if Saka, Rice, etc had played we would win.

All is forgotten with a win on Saturday . We humans have the memory of a goldfish

  4. Fellow Gooners…today the haters celebrated. When we win the title, our celebration will put theirs to shame. COYG!

I’m all for him saying this publicly.

But if this is the message behind doors we’re fucked.

These players are not fighting to win. They’re jogging back on counters, they’re jogging to loose balls, they’re not showing basic desire to win. They got showed up 16 year old who’s literally got to school in the morning.

  6. 1 PL title and 1 UCL-semi and everything will be forgiven. Please lock in for the next coming weeks.

  7. Most times, Arteta grills players privately but shields players during the interview. Yes, he mentions players from time to time, but he is more likely not to throw someone under the bus.

You can agree or disagree with that approach, but I think it is the right choice.

Swear he always says stuff like this but never actually chages anything about the tactics

  9. was a media answer when asked a stupid question about missing chances and the club looking in the summer to change the players. He defused a stupid bait question that was looking to get a headline

    Ignore and move on

  10. Publicly, he’s going to defend his players. Behind closed doors, I think we have reason to believe he’s much harsher. With that said, we’re at the part of the season where he needs to be ruthless. If a 16 year old is our best option then we need to go with it.

  11. “IF someone needs to take responsibility”???? Yeah, dude! Can you actually, legit take responsibility?

    Soooo annoying.

If we can deliver some silverware with this kind of attack, then ok count me in.

Until then, criticism tends to come out if we lose to a championship team, and we’re playing sunday league attack, and having a 16 year old show more heart and fire than his seniors.

Two consecutive cup knockouts in two games hurts, he now has no excuse for the league. I need to celebrate this year, it’s been a long year

  14. This is the right thing for him to say, but for the first time I’m wondering how the players feel about him.

Yeah he’s right. He’s to blame for us still having martinelli and Jesus to rely on.

For not having a proper attacking tactics today

For Mosquera defending inside their half all the time, which led to dangerous chances for them AND the 2nd goal

The players haven’t done anything since the New Year. They’ve given the bare minimum, and you can’t keep using tiredness as an excuse every game, especially when you’re earning millions a year.

The blame *is* on you gaffer I’m afraid. You set up so poorly against a championship side, to lethargic and one dimensional. If we’re too predictable for the likes of Southampton, we might be cooked.
