[Lewis Steele] Just leaving the Etihad. That from LFC was the lowest ebb of this rotten season and an insult to the 7,600 fans. OK first half an hour but zero fight after 1-0. Buck stops ultimately with Arne Slot and I struggle to see him turning it around. If anything, they’re getting worse.

By result, yes but not by performance. We actually outplayed city for large parts of the match. Score aside, that was our best game against city this season. They just finished their chances better than we did.

    That and refs were atrocious.

  2. We’re absolutely getting worse. We peaked at game 5, and even that was flukey af.

  3. Just when you think we’ve reached rock bottom, Slot pulls out a new spade. 👌🏻

  4. And the owners dont give a shit. Why are the media babying Slot and the board so much

  5. Think city took pity on us. Thought it was going to end 7 or 8 at one point. They totally took their foot off the gass.

  6. That’s the killer. You’d take losses with a bit of fight. Watching them give up under the smallest bit of adversity, seeing zero effort defensively for most of the goals, a player swapping a shirt during the game going on and a player having the cheek to have a go at the away fans after all that.

I think that the draw against the current spurs was the lowest point. They are a horrible side right now with essentially the whole squad injured and we still couldn’t beat them at Anfield.

Why are people forgetting that Forest came to Anfield this season and smashed us 0-3?! Getting badly beaten by City away is nowhere near as embarrassing

I’ve never seen any team who just capitulate so easily as soon as they face the slightest bit of adversity. For the first 30 mins, we were actually playing very well, we looked like we had a game plan for the first time In a long time, and then we face the first hard thing in the game and just completely shit the bed and switch off. We went from mentality monsters to mentality mice. The players need to take a hard look at themselves and it’s also time for Slot to go. As a coach I think he’s not too bad and not far off the other top coaches in the league, as a man manager he’s abysmal, there’s no chance in hell any of Klopps teams would ever be this mentally weak, they may not have had the talent but always ran there socks off and didn’t just fold at the first sign of pressure.

  10. I remember Carra being critical of the defence and how relaxed they looked in the first game of the season and how Slot was all cocky pretty much saying “you don’t know what you’re talking about, I know better”. And how we scraped a few good results with last minute goals. We were never consistently good this season, the good performances were the exception, not the rule. The writing is on the wall and the font gets bigger and bigger with every game. We’re just postponing the inevitable at this point.

  11. Saying its getting worse now when its been like this with performances since November is some revisionism only difference is they cant using Salah as the excuse anymore

  12. Sadly it’s probably not even in our top 5 lowest points tbh. It doesn’t feel as bad when you’re expecting it.

I think the most damning indictment of Slot’s management is that Wirtz has looked like one of the best in the world everywhere he plays except for under Slot.

The roster as it is is almost perfectly set up for Xabi. He needs to be brought in ASAP.

“Just in. FSG have decided to Arne Slot. They have a lot of confidence in him….”

  15. This is why mid-season firing is better. it gives the next manager a head start on next year.

Slot lost my respect ages ago by blaming the players in public instead of himself starting Gakpo every week.

But hey, Arsenal just got knocked out by Southampton so that made today a little more tolerable.

  17. Thing is we keep saying this. PSV was the low point, Forest was the low point, Brighton was the low point; City was the low point.

It’s irrelevant which was. All are unacceptable and when all of them occur in one season that tells you all you need to know
