Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels is a top target for Club Brugge – but there’s a recognition that it would be an extremely difficult transfer to pull off.
Sels has been named in Belgium as a leading transfer target for Club Brugge as they seek a replacement for their number one, former Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, who has announced he will retire from football at the end of the season.
Het Laatste Nieuws report that Club Brugge want a similar profile to Mignolet, and so are looking for a top-level, experienced, Belgian keeper.
That points them to Sels and Koen Casteels, who is currently playing in Saudi Arabia with Al-Qadsiah.

However, it’s recognised that a move for Sels is almost a no-go, knowing that, from a financial and sporting aspect, it would be difficult to convince a Premier League number one to return to Belgium, even if Club Brugge are competing for titles and could potentially be in the Champions League next term.
Sels has not hit the heights of last season, when he won the Premier League’s golden glove, but has still come up with some fine stops and has kept nine clean sheets in his 31 outings this term.
The 34-year-old will have a year left to run on his contract at the City Ground come this summer.
He’s one of four goalkeepers used by Forest this season, with January signing Stefan Ortega able to provide some serious competition for the gloves.
