Everton believe they can secure a permanent deal for Jack Grealish, who has thrived on Merseyside after joining on loan from Manchester City.

The playmaker looked a player reborn at the Hill Dickinson Stadium before an injury ended his season back in January. His future will remain a major talking point come the summer and the Toffees are confident they can get the player back, but this time for good.

Grealish has ultimately underwhelmed since moving to Manchester for £100million back in 2021. He only has a year left on his contract, but his weekly wages of £300,000 could prove a difficult hurdle. An option to buy him for £50million is thought to feature in his current agreement.

Everton’s hierarchy hope to scale down that figure and believe a sum in and around the £20m mark is more suitable for a player who will be out of contract in 12 months, reports the Daily Mail.

The Toffees’ financial situation has improved since moving to their new stadium, which has already hosted a number of events, creating extra revenue. That could prove a major plus when it comes to their summer business.

Grealish has remained on Merseyside for a long period of rehabilitation after suffering a stress fracture to his foot, which Everton see as a huge positive. The former Aston Villa man was an instant hit with the club’s fanbase and the Toffees are by no means out of the Champions League hunt.

The 30-year-old had come up with two goals and six assists before his season was cut short. Grealish has fallen out of the England picture but has spoken about his affection for David Moyes, who could play a key role if Everton after to get their loanee long-term.

Grealish previously said: “It is a brilliant team and I love the manager to pieces. I have only known him a few months and I can’t speak highly enough of him as a person. How he makes me feel, how he makes me want to play for him – credit to him. We are doing well. I am so lucky that I have had such great clubs and great fanbases, this is another one of them.”

Everton’s summer recruitment has been key in them having their best season in years. Thierno Barry and Kiernan-Dewsbury-Hall were signed for a combined £51m and the two are joint top scorers.
