Weekly food waste collections are due to roll out across Bournemouth and Poole from Monday.

More than £78bn has been made available to councils in England this year, including funding for weekly food waste collections for all households, alongside £340m to support authorities with the new collections.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council was given more than £2m as part of the government’s Simpler Recycling scheme, which aims to reduce carbon emissions and cut environmental and societal impacts from waste disposal.

It is among a number of councils that missed a 31 March deadline to introduce measures, including separate weekly food waste collections.
