Hampshire County Council intends to make an order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to allow works to be carried out on or near the road.
The order runs for six months from April 8, and the closure is expected to be required for no longer than three days.
The closure is to allow for utility works by Kier.
A temporary diversion route will be in place via Station Road, Old Milton Road, and back to Whitefield Road.
