Former Gunners and West Ham winger has Luis Boa Morte has revealed he would have loved to have starred for the Magpies
Former Fulham star Luis Boa Morte
He graced the Premier League with Arsenal, Fulham, West Ham and Southampton but Portuguese winger Luis Boa Morte has admitted the club he really wanted to play for was Newcastle United.
The 28-times capped Portugal international made the switch from Sporting to Arsenal in 1997, and while didn’t make the impact he would have liked at Highbury, went on to have an impressive career in the English top flight.
Boa Morte made 296 appearances for Fulham, West Ham and Southampton after leaving Arsenal, but never got the chance to play for the Magpies.
He did come close, with United keen on a move for the winger while he was at Fulham, but he opted to stay with the Cottagers in 2005

Speaking to Portuguese outlet A BOLA, via Sports Witness, he was asked if he would have liked to have played for Benfica, Sporting and Porto, but he replied: “Yes, of course. But what I would have liked most was to have gone to Newcastle United, but that didn’t happen either.
“English football back then was pure spectacle. It was the foreign coaches who somewhat spoiled English football with things like clean sheets.
“English fans like to see their team playing attacking football. The 4-4 draw between Liverpool and Newcastle is still on television today.”
