Liverpool have held talks over the potential signing of Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer, according to a report from TEAMtalk.
The Reds could be in the market for a new centre-back when the summer transfer window opens, with Ibrahima Konate yet to commit his future to the Merseyside club.
Konate is set to be out of contract at the end of the season, and with no new deal secured as of yet, Liverpool will be searching for possible replacements.
Even if Konate remains at Anfield, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Liverpool sign another defender.
Joe Gomez has struggled with injuries throughout his time at Anfield and has often been utilised as a makeshift right-back, so there’s an argument to suggest Liverpool are already short of options in the middle of defence.
Liverpool Eyeing Free-Agent Defender
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Liverpool have held talks with the representatives of Bournemouth centre-back Senesi over a possible move in the summer transfer window.
Senesi looks set to leave the Cherries later this year, informing the south coast club of his desire to depart when his contract expires in the summer.
Liverpool are one of the sides who have been contacted over a potential move, but the 28-year-old dreams of joining La Liga outfit Barcelona.
Senesi, described as a ‘gladiator’, would be a smart addition for many clubs if he’s available on a free transfer, and Liverpool certainly aren’t the only ones who will be in the race to secure his signature in the summer.
Barcelona could make a move for Senesi, but as it stands, their primary target is Alessandro Bastoni.
Forward Signing Will be Liverpool’s Focus
Although adding a new defender could be one of Liverpool’s priorities in the upcoming summer transfer window, their primary focus will be on signing a replacement for Mohamed Salah.
It’s now been confirmed that the Egyptian international will be leaving Anfield at the end of the season on a free transfer, despite him having a year left on his deal.
The Reds will desperately need to find a replacement capable of hitting the numbers he regularly produces, as it’s no surprise that Liverpool have dropped off this term with Salah tailing off.
The former Chelsea man might not be in the form of his life, but Liverpool need to add someone who can contribute regularly in the final third.
