Jack Moorhouse has quietly been shining for Manchester United in the academy this season since his return from an unsuccessful loan with Leyton Orient.
Back in January, Jack Moorhouse’s loan at Leyton Orient ended, and he returned to play under-21 football with Manchester United.
Moorhouse has had plenty of first-team exposure despite his game time coming in the under-21 side; he even made the bench against Everton in February’s 1-0 win at the Hill Dickinson.
Now, the 20-year-old midfielder has shown his biggest strength in a win for the under-21s, proving why he should be on the radar of Michael Carrick.

Moorhouse started in a midfield pivot as United’s under-21 side beat Leeds 2-1 on Friday, and it was a performance in which he showcased his work rate and willingness to fight in the middle of the park.
But most impressive was his ball-carrying ability.
Moorhouse provided the assist for Jack Fletcher’s second goal, and it was an assist that showed his biggest unique selling point in action.
After a smart pass from Shea Lacey, Moorhouse picked up the ball before carrying it past multiple defenders with one of his fabled driving runs, before he slipped Fletcher through on goal.
When Moorhouse goes on one of these runs, he is unstoppable, and nobody else in the squad offers this ability. Due to this, Moorhouse could be a wildcard option for United in midfield, with the ability to break through stubborn defences all on his own.
Michael Carrick could use Moorhouse in this role off the bench, offering more than Manuel Ugarte when chasing a goal.
It was over a year ago that Ruben Amorim was excited by Moorhouse’s ability, and he is probably the more likely talents to debut in the remainder of this season.

While he might end up getting minutes this season, with United closing in on Champions League qualification, Moorhouse’s true chance to breakthrough will be in the summer.
This comes according to the Manchester World, which claims Moorhouse is set to get regular minutes during pre-season as he steps up in the absence of World Cup bound players.
United’s tour of Europe will give Moorhouse the chance to impress before a decision is ultimately made over his immediate future.
It will determine whether or not Moorhouse is considered a player ready to contribute next season as a midfielder, or whether he needs another loan move before being ready.
United will likely need the academy to provide a midfield addition this summer, with two signings expected and a promotion as the third.
