Patson Daka fired Leicester in front after just four minutes, capitalising on a dreadful pass back, before Preston struck twice to grab a half-time lead.
First Andrew Moran fired home via the underside of the crossbar before Benjamin Whiteman’s looping header put North End ahead.
Daka scored his second, again from a mistake by the visitors, to earn his side a point but it was not enough to see the Foxes climb out of the bottom three and they remain a point adrift of Portsmouth who still have a game in hand on them.
