I was randomly watching this Messi clip against Real Madrid and I was surprised by the number of fouls Madrid players committed without atleast 2 of them being sent off for double yellows.
I’ve watched these games live but when I look back and compare it with today’s games, I can imagine so many players being booked or sent off for those challenges as we witness now.
Players were protected way lesser during those days and it amazes me how Messi, being the most fouled player due to his dribbling and style, suffered very few injuries, showing great strength and resilience. I can’t think of someone in this era who can pull this off.
Besides this, it was fun watching him toying with prime Ramos, Marcelo, and the rest of Madrid’s defence.
