A teenage girl who was visiting the island from France sustained serious head injuries in a collision on Route des Genets in St Brelade on Wednesday evening and has been flown to Southampton Hospital.
Police said the incident took place just outside the Les Ruisseaux Estate, between 5.10pm and 5.15pm, involving the 14-year-old pedestrian and a grey Honda CRV driven by a 70-year-old man.
The car was believed to have been travelling eastbound along Route des Genets towards St Aubin’s.
A spokesperson for the force stated: “The car and pedestrian have collided in the road, which resulted in serious head injuries to the girl.
“The driver was not injured. No other persons or vehicles are believed to be involved.”
The girl was treated on scene by paramedics before being transported to the General Hospital.
Her condition was described as “serious but stable”, but due to the seriousness of the head injury she was urgently flown to Southampton for on-going medical treatment. Her family are aware.
Police would like to speak with anyone who may have seen the car prior to the collision, seen or heard the collision itself, or have dash camera or CCTV footage in the moments before, during, and after the incident.
