As reported, Sheen, now living in Woodlinken Close, Verwood, targeted Bramshaw Golf Club in Brook on 2nd October last year, stealing over £8,000 of equipment.

He also stole cash and alcohol from Sandy Balls Holiday Village in Fordingbridge on 28th November.

Alongside these offences, he pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing class A drugs – cocaine and heroin – in New Milton on 19th November; assaulting an emergency worker, causing actual bodily harm, and escaping lawful custody on 3rd May.

During the May incident, Sheen pushed two officers, leaving one of them with a leg injury.

He was handed a 28-month sentence.

Speaking afterwards, New Forest District Commander, Ch. Insp. Scott Johnson, warned the force would never tolerate its officers being assaulted.

“Each assault on one of our officers is a deliberate attack on a person performing a public duty,” he said.

“Our officers work tirelessly every single day to serve and protect the public, putting themselves in harm’s way in the process.

“They should never have to fear an assault, physical or verbal, in their continued efforts to keep our communities safe.

“The idea that this behaviour is somehow ‘part of the job’ is outdated, dangerous and completely incompatible with modern policing and public expectation.”

The sentencing was welcomed by Sgt Nicholas Gardner, who said: “I hope this outcome offers all the victims concerned some comfort and reassurance, safe in the knowledge that this prolific offender is no longer roaming our streets and able to steal from anyone else.

“Sheen is now facing up to the consequences of his actions and will have plenty of time to think about his crimes and the impact of these.”

He added: “This case should also once again demonstrate our commitment to seriously tackling burglars, whether residential, non-dwelling or business.

“We won’t allow these crimes to take place in our area and will work tirelessly to arrest, charge and bring offenders before the courts.”
