AC Milan are currently poised to lose their promising young goalkeeper Alessandro Longoni, with Manchester City among the clubs keen.
The Italian national team are going through a very difficult phase, having failed to make the World Cup for the third time in a row. However, there are some talents in the youth team that give more hope for the future, and a few of them play at Milan.
Longoni to leave?
According to the journalist Nicolo Schira who works for Tuttosport, some Premier League clubs have come forward to express an interest in signing Longoni. He even goes as far as to say that Manchester City are leading the race.
Longoni’s contract with Milan expires in June and he could leave as a free agent, with no renewal seemingly imminent. The club are believed to have high hopes for the 18-year-old internally, to the extent he has been labelled a ‘mini Maignan’, but losing him seems a concrete threat.
There is a bit of crowding in that particular position, given that Lorenzo Torriani seems to be regarde as being a bit ahead of Longoni at the moment, and there is also Mattia Pittarella that is getting on the bench sometimes for the senior side.
