The Argus published a call-to-action post earlier this week, asking for Brighton supporters’ opinions.

Out of the comments, three key players have made our shortlist.

Danny Welbeck

Enjoying his best career goal tally, Danny Welbeck has been incredible.

At the age of 35, Welbeck has scored 12 goals in 30 appearances. With seven games to go and the chance of a European finish, Danny’s fine form is vital.

He joined Brighton in October 2020, when Graham Potter managed the club.

Since then, he’s made 191 appearances in all competitions. With Joao Pedro leaving for Chelsea last summer, question marks were raised about striker options.

Danny has stepped up more than anyone expected.

Responding to our call-out post, Paul wrote: “Welbz has definitely impressed, banging in the goals and smart play all over the pitch. ”

Jackie agreed, commenting: “Danny Welbeck has been so impressive this season.”

Ferdi Kadioglu

The defender who recently secured World Cup football with Turkey has been a fan’s favourite.

Albion signed Ferdi in August 2024.

This happened after his performances during the Crescent-Stars’ Euros campaign.

During the competition, he was a standout player.

Brighton fans have seen that kind of form this season, with Ferdi developing in confidence.

He now darts at defenders, forcing backlines to react as he attacks. At the same time, his aggression in his own defence has been seen throughout this campaign.

Reader Michelle commented: “Ferdi has been consistently great in every game. (He’s) definitely my player of the match each week.”

Jacomina added: “Ferdi has been consistent and outstanding all season.”

Jan Paul van Hecke

JP has established himself as the backbone of Albion. This season is no different, with aggressive, front-foot defending. He’s made 29 appearances so far this season, all from the starting lineup.

The Dutch international has also scored three goals and assisted two this Premier League campaign.

When he plays against Burnley after the international break, he’ll be on 100 top-flight appearances for Brighton.

Reader Festus commented: “Jan Paul van Hecke… (he has) had an amazing season defensively.”
