The run-in is expected to be one of the most dramatic finales we’ve seen in the Premier League and Newcastle are caught up in some ding dong fixtures before the season is out

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground
Newcastle United’s penultimate away fixture of the season has been shifted on the schedule with TV chiefs forecasting a potential relegation nail-biter for one of the Magpies’ top-flight rivals.
United’s trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest now kicks off at 2pm on Sunday May 10 and will be played out in front of the Sky Sports cameras as part of their Super Sunday coverage. With Vitor Pereira’s men still scrapping for survival, the fixture could prove to be vital for both Forest and Newcastle for different reasons.
Eddie Howe will be praying that Newcastle are still in with a shout of European football while Forest – just three points above the drop zone as things stand – could need a win to stave off the drop. With Roberto De Zerbi now in charge at Tottenham Hotspur a recovery in North London is now possible after Igor Tudor’s disastrous stint in charge.
Forest, Spurs and West Ham are battling to avoid joining Wolves and Burnley in the Championship next season with the fate of the bottom two all but sealed with seven games left.
Newcastle could come up against former stars Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood in the clash next month while United winger Anthony Elanga will return to the City Ground for the first time since his £55m summer move.
A club statement read: “Newcastle United’s Premier League game against Nottingham Forest in May has been rescheduled.
“The Magpies had been due to face Vítor Pereira’s men at the City Ground on Saturday, 9th May at 3pm BST.
“But that contest has been moved in the latest round of Premier League fixture amendments, and will now take place a day later on Sunday, 10th May, with kick-off set for 2pm BST. The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.”
Newcastle’s April trip to Arsenal is still to be confirmed as well as their home clash with the Hammers. If Arsenal reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup, the Magpies’ Emirates Stadium jaunt will be switched from April 25.
The game with West Ham at St James’ Park could also be moved if West Ham reach the FA Cup final.
