Rico Lewis signed a new Man City contract last summer
He has not played much this season
Multiple Premier League clubs are interested in signing the right-back
Rico Lewis recommitted his future to Manchester City last summer, but his Manchester City career has taken a turn for the worse since then.
Manchester City have been linked with various right-backs ahead of the summer transfer window, including Tino Livramento.
The position has remained an area where squad depth is lacking, ever since Kyle Walker left the club. In fact, Matheus Nunes has been playing there all season, despite the fact he is actually a midfielder by trade.
Despite this, Rico Lewis has rarely played this season, raising questions about his future at the Etihad Stadium.
Rico Lewis could consider departing Manchester City
According to Team Talk, Lewis is considering whether to leave Man City, just months after adding a two-year extension to his existing deal at the club.
The 21-year-old has only made 11 starts across all competitions this season and he is worried about his England prospects if his playing time does not improve.
Only last week, Lewis was on the scoresheet for England’s under-21s team, but he has not played in the Premier League since January.
Six Premier League clubs are interested in Lewis
Six Premier League teams have a confirmed interest in Lewis, one of whom are Newcastle United. There could be some interesting developments on that front due to City’s admiration for Livramento, while they are also keen on Sandro Tonali.
Sunderland are also keeping a close eye on Lewis’ situation and the two North Eastern clubs are not alone.
Everton, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Brentford and Brighton are all keen on the Man City player, so it is likely the club will receive bids in the summer.
