Crystal Palace fans can rest easy; Bayern Munich are not currently interested in Maxence Lacroix.
SportBILD report on the situation today. Journalist expert Christian Falk plays down recent headlines about the Crystal Palace defender.
Bayern angle overstated
Maxence Lacroix is back in focus this week. Reports have claimed that Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Liverpool are all eyeing up a potential €40m move this summer.
But according to Falk, the Bayern angle is being overstated.
“FC Bayern are not currently looking for another centre-back,” he said about the Crystal Palace player.
“Besides Upamecano, Tah, Kim, and Ito, Stanisic is also planned for the upcoming season in central defence.
“Sporting director Max Eberl sees more pressing needs in the squad, namely a backup on the left wing and a new right-back, for which the Munich club’s limited transfer budget is to be spent.”
Falk goes even further. He stressed that Bayern’s stance is unlikely to shift unless something dramatic happens internally.
“Bayern wants to save money,” he added.
“Their stance would only change if Kim approached the Bayern bosses with a desire to leave and offered a transfer fee. That hasn’t happened yet.”
A Premier League regular, but not Bayern-bound
Christian Falk’s news about Bayern Munich’s situation will surely come as good news for Crystal Palace.
Knocking off one major club of the list of interested clubs will be a boost, even if they face a battle to keep the 25-year-old Frenchman this summer.
His consistency in England has strengthened his reputation and there is likely to be interest either way.
Indeed, it would be surprising if he wasn’t the next high-profile departure, particularly if he goes to the World Cup with France. He’s certainly keen to make it to the tournament this summer.
But a switch to Bayern Munich is ‘not a concrete possibility’ for now. Their priorities lie elsewhere according to Falk.
