Covering the period of July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, they highlight the huge jump in both income and expenditure attached to a first season back in the top flight for 22 years.

A massive jump in league distribution and television income (£10.3m in the Championship to £107.5m in the Premier League), cash injection of £44.5m from new US investors, allied with the quick-fire profit of £15m made on Liam Delap’s purchase and sale within the same financial period, are all behind a club-record £155m annual turnover.

Wages jumped from £44.5m in the Championship to £77.1m in the Premier League, indicating that several players were on £50k+ a week, while more than £22m was spent on upgrading Portman Road and the current Playford Road training ground redevelopment.

The £112.8m shown for player acquisitions doesn’t include the outlay of £20m on Omari Hutchinson from Chelsea (whose purchase came at the very end of the previous accounts period). It means that the 16 players (listed below) signed over the course of the 2024 summer window and 2025 January window cost around £132.8m.

All the above left the club with a pre-tax profit of £4m.

Outlining the club’s position regarding Financial Fair Play rules, the report reads: “As in prior years, we have again disclosed our FFP projections which show a profit in the period of £15 million. This resulted from the sale of playing assets prior to 30th June 2025 [Delap]. Had it not been for the sale of the assets, this would reduce to a loss of £0.4 million.

“Regarding the club’s FFP position at the end of 2024/25, it is noted the average three-year loss is c£10 million and totals £30.2 million over the period. The EPL/EFL compliance threshold is an average loss of just over £20 million per annum and £61 million over the three-year period with headroom of c£32 million as a result.”
