Chelsea set to switch Sonia Bompastor for Liam Rosenior in sensational swap
Chelsea consider appointing Sonia Bompastor as men’s boss while inserting Liam Rosenior into women’s head coach role
Stamford Bridge hierachy weigh up swapping underperforming Rosenior with Blues women’s boss Sonia Bompastor
Chelsea are examining the idea of replacing their underperforming men’s boss Liam Rosenior with the club’s experienced women’s head coach Sonia Bompastor.
It is understood the idea has been gaining traction after being floated among the west London club’s higher echelons, with factions behind the scenes wanting the move to take place before Chelsea’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Port Vale this Saturday.
However, it is believed Bompastor does not want to commit to the men’s Stamford Bridge hotseat until after they take on in-form Arsenal Women in the Blues crucial Champions League quarter-final second leg in SW6 on Wednesday evening. Chelsea Women are 3-1 down after being overpowered at the Emirates last week.
A Chelsea insider told the Gooner: “The feeling is that Bompastor doesn’t want to accept the poisoned chalice that is the Chelsea men’s head coach role, as she is happy in her own job.
“That may change if Arsenal Women knock Sonia’s side out of the Champions League.”
Yet, the feeling is that Rosenior, or ‘LinkedIn Liam’ as he is known among staff – for his David Brent-style excruciating management speak, that you can also find in the worst LinkedIn leadership-style posts – is on borrowed time, with Chelsea set to enact the groundbreaking job swap.
