The painting of Marwell Zoo’s missing Samba appeared on the side of the London Road Brew House on the morning of Tuesday, March 31.

The nine-month-old female escaped from Marwell Zoo on Tuesday, March 17 and remains at large, despite extensive efforts by zookeepers to reunite her with her sister Tango.

Skye Stevens, who works at the pub and found the painting, said: “I turned around this morning and saw it.

“It must have appeared overnight. I think he’s adorable”

The stencil painting shows a parachuting Samba, in the art style of Banksy.

Underneath the picture, the words ‘Pidg was here’ seem to take credit for the artwork, although the identity of the artist is unknown.

Skye added that she wasn’t sure how her managers were going to feel about it at first, as the pub had decided not to jump on the social media trend of making AI images of Samba at their business.

Skye said: “I sent it to the group chat though and they loved it.

“We’ve named him Banksy-bara.”

An identical painting has also been spotted on Nara, a Japanese restaurant on Bedford Place.
