In January, Davide Frattesi was close to joining Nottingham Forest. Since then, things haven’t improved for the Inter Milan player, whose future remains very uncertain.

Sport Witness extensively covered the Italian’s situation two months ago. The Midlands club had found an agreement for an initial loan deal but Inter failed to sign Curtis Jones from Liverpool as a replacement.

This meant that Frattesi stayed at the Nerazzurri, frustratingly for all involved. He has made just one start since the start of February, having been relegated simply to a back-up option in midfield.

It is easy to see why the former Sassuolo man would be frustrated with life at Inter. Now, Nottingham Forest could be back in the picture for him.

Survival can be key for deal

InterLive report about the 26-year-old, who scored crucial goals for the Nerazzurri in the Champions League last season. While he wasn’t a regular under Simone Inzaghi, his profile has fallen further under Cristian Chivu.

There is belief that even though joining AS Roma could be an idea for Frattesi, he is more likely to end up in England.

Talks with Nottingham Forest can resume in the summer ‘provided they avoid relegation’. It is clear however, that Vitor Pereira’s side are still keen on bringing him to the City Ground.

Frattesi would also be keen on playing in the Premier League and going into the Championship can hand other English clubs a chance at signing him.

The financial capacity of Premier League sides also appeals to the Serie A league leaders. Inter know that Italian clubs would likely opt for initial loans, whilst they prefer Frattesi’s permanent exit.

Nottingham Forest should push for signing

The current season says little about Frattesi and his qualities as a player. Despite limited game time, Italy manager Rino Gattuso called him up to the national team last week and that says everything about what Frattesi is capable of.

He has a reputation of being someone who scores crucial goals after making unpredictable runs from midfield. That has been his key trait since his time at Sassuolo, which shows he will add value to the Nottingham Forest side.

At 26, he can also offer a future resale possibility. This will be applicable especially if Pereira’s side bring the most out of the midfielder, who will be desperate to leave in the summer.

Interestingly, Frattesi and Lorenzo Lucca are represented by GR Sports. This can make it easy for Nottingham Forest for execute a possible deal at some point in the future.
