Max Dowman is one of the most exciting young players in the world right now.

The teenager has already caught the eye in his limited appearances at Arsenal, and there is a lot of excitement around his future.

However, not everyone is convinced that staying at the Emirates is the right move for Dowman.

Adrian Durham recently urged the teenager to leave the Gunners to save his career, but Perry Groves has strongly disagreed with that view.

How closely do you think Max Dowman will follow in Lamine Yamal’s footsteps?

Durham suggested that Dowman should leave Arsenal, claiming that Mikel Arteta could ruin his development.

The presenter used Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly as examples, arguing that they have not progressed as expected. He believes that it is all down to the Arsenal manager.

Groves, however, completely disagrees with that take and believes Durham is making no sense with his comments on Dowman.

“It’s the biggest load of nonsense I’ve ever heard in my life,” he said on talkSPORT.

“Max Dowman – if Adrian had seen him play, not just coming on for his cameo against Everton, where he did unbelievable – he was the best player against Mansfield, by the way, in the FA Cup, when it was the old pitch, it was like the Horse of the Year show.”

Groves also argued that Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly are not good enough to start for Arsenal at the moment because of the players in their positions. He feels, however, that Dowman won’t face the same problem.

Max Dowman is a different level, a completely different level, and he’s good enough. This season, he’ll get more minutes.

“He’s good enough for next season, at worst, to be on the bench and pushing to start in the first team.”

Is Max Dowman the obvious replacement for Noni Madueke at Arsenal if he is ruled out?

The narrative that Arteta does not develop young players is one of the most baffling things anyone can ever say.

Bukayo Saka is the best example of that, as he has developed into one of the best players in the world under the tutelage of the Arsenal manager.

Arteta has trusted the Englishman every step of the way, and that is proof that he is the right man to develop the academy stars.

That is exactly the same pathway Dowman can follow if he continues to perform.

Groves is right, Durham’s comment about the Arsenal youngster is absolute nonsense, and it’s a shame that football fans even have to listen to it.
