The Tractor Girls will face Southampton in the Women’s Super League 2 at Town’s famous old ground today (12.30pm).
Town Women have been on a great run since the turn of the year, losing just one game in six and picking up nine points in that time, which has been enough to take them off bottom of the table and clear of relegation as it stands.
Wright replaced long-term boss Joe Sheehan at the start of 2026, and was the man at the helm for the uptick in form.

And Wright spoke to the media ahead of today’s clash about his side’s revival under his tenure.
He said: “It’s been great.
“The girls, in terms of how I see the game, in terms of the attitude and the application of them day in, day out, has been second to none.
“If we look at the performance levels that they’ve been able to achieve, they have been great, but we can’t relax.
“We’ve got to keep moving. We’re hungry to get better and better, hungry to keep searching for those positive performances and positive results and I’m sure they will come.
“All the girls have pulled together and they’ve kept their performance levels high which is really positive.”

Town Women lost their first game in 2026 to Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the City Ground on Sunday.
And Wright stressed that was ‘just a speed bump’ in their resurgence under his management.
He said: “Since taking over, we’ve been on an upward trajectory and it was never going to happen that we keep going and going.
“We understand we are in an elite sport and we’re up against good players, so we were always going to hit a speed bump, the weekend was just that.
“We’ve reviewed it though, we’ve learned from it and we’ve put it in the past and concentrated on moving forward and keeping the wheels turning like we have been doing.”
