Leicester City’s relegation rivals Blackburn Rovers have signed former England international Nathan Redmond on a free transfer to help boost their survival bid.
Blackburn, who sit three places and four points above City, have brought in the 32-year-old winger on a short-term deal after he left Sheffield Wednesday in January.
Michael O’Neill’s side were then granted permission by the EFL to include Redmond in their 25-man Championship squad following long-term injuries suffered by Sondre Tronstad and Lewis Miller.
Redmond, capped once by England during his successful spell at Southampton, left Burnley in the summer and then popped up at Hillsborough in November, playing seven games for the Owls on a short-term contract.

Available on a free again, he’s now signed for Blackburn until the end of the season, with seven games to go.
He’s already started to build up his fitness, playing 45 minutes for their Under-21s this week.
Four points from their last two games against promotion hopefuls Millwall and Middlesbrough have boosted Blackburn’s survival hopes significantly over the past couple of weeks, and they’re now in the best position of the five clubs looking to avoid occupying the final two relegation places.
City are currently inside the relegation zone, a point from safety, and travel to Blackburn’s Ewood Park on the final day of the campaign.
As far as six-pointers go, City also have Portsmouth to play, while Blackburn play West Brom on Easter Monday.
