Claims emerged this week suggesting that George Earthy could leave West Ham United on a free transfer when his latest loan spell at Bristol City comes to an end.
While Greg Lincoln’s Hammers reserves suffered National League Cup final heartbreak against Boreham Wood, the midfield talisman who scored twice on their route to Meadow Park was coming off another week wasted on the substitute’s bench.
George Earthy is struggling to nail down a spot during a second stint at Ashton Gate.

It was claimed a few days ago, meanwhile, that the West Ham United youngster could find himself without a club as soon as June, with various sources claiming that he is under contract at the London Stadium until the summer of 2026.
Concerns club insider ExWHUEmployee has now scotched in emphatic fashion.
George Earthy has a year left on his West Ham United contract
On the West Ham Way, Ex clarifies that West Ham actually extended Earthy’s contract before sending him back to Bristol.
“Reports that Earthy will be a free agent this summer are not true,” the insider said. “However, that does not necessarily mean that the player will remain a West Ham player.

“Of course, like many things at present, until we know our league status for next season, everything is up in the air – including Earthy’s future. If we remain in the Premier League, the club could look to cash in on the player, but of course nothing has been decided upon.
“Earthy is a West Ham player and is under contract until summer 2027, at the very least at present.”
So while it can be confirmed that Earthy will not be leaving West Ham for free – well, not this summer anyway – Nuno Espirito Santo and co still have a difficult decision to make regarding one of their most promising academy talents.
Earthy faces an uncertain summer under Nuno Espirito Santo
If Earthy cannot force his way into the Bristol City XI in his favoured attacking midfield role, what chance does he realistically have of nailing down a spot at West Ham?
Unlike Stevenage, who terminated Lewis Orford’s loan ahead of schedule because they couldn’t fit him into an in-form team, it’s not as if Robins boss Gerhard Struber is looking to maintain a winning formula.

Bristol City have slipped to 16th since Earthy joined. Despite losing five and winning two of their last ten Championship games, Earthy has played only 120 minutes since being subbed off at half-time against Sheffield Wednesday. His only start in that run came as a right-wing back in a defeat by Swansea.
Furthermore, reports indicate that his parent club may be looking to sign another attacking midfielder in the summer.
Lyon star Pavel Sulc has been linked, while West Ham reportedly offered £17 million for Antonio Vergara before his Napoli explosion in the winter.
Earthy will not be leaving the Hammers for free in June. But his future is more uncertain than ever.
