Aston Villa will try an audacious swoop for Marcus Rashford if they fail to sign Jason Sancho this summer, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

Sancho’s contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the season and it is understood talks have already taken place regarding a permanent deal at Villa, where he has been on loan this term.

Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing the soon-to-be free agent in what would be an emotional return to the club that helped skyrocket his value.

Unai Emery hopes he can convince Sancho to join Villa permanently, but is ready to turn to another Manchester United loan star if he fails to land his man.

Rashford’s future looked destined to be Barcelona, where he has impressed whilst out on loan this season.

A £26million option to buy was seemingly a done deal before Barca sporting director Deco contacted United about the possibility of loaning Rashford for another season before stumping up the cash to buy him.

But United’s intention is to sell the England star this summer which could see his Barcelona dream come crashing down.

Utd Story Over

After coming through the Red Devils’ renowned academy and looking like he would go down in history as a one-club legend, things turned sour for Rashford at the club.

His performances whilst on loan at Villa resurrected his career and earned him his move to Barcelona.

It is understood Rashford prefers life out of the limelight of the English tabloid media.

But Emery believes he can convince the 28-year-old, who has scored ten goals for the La Liga club this term, to return to his homeland if Barca decide against pulling the trigger to make his loan permanent.

Leaving United would end a two-decade-plus spell at Old Trafford, but the time has come for the striker to move on.
