Richard Middleton, assistant coroner for Dorset, formally opened the inquest into the death of 12-year-old Angel Elizabeth Mukami Karanja at Bournemouth Town Hall on Wednesday, March 25.
The court heard that Miss Karanja was born in Poole on April 23, 2013, and at the time of her death was a student and was residing at a property in Perry Gardens in Poole.
Coroner’s officer, Chloe Day, told Dorset Coroner’s Court that police and paramedics were called to an address in Napier Road in Poole following reports of an unresponsive female on Tuesday, March 17.
The death was not treated as suspicious or having any third-party involvement.
A post-mortem examination was undertaken at Holly Tree Lodge on Tuesday, March 24 by Dr Blahut.
Dr Blahut gave the provisional cause of death as hanging.
Mr Middleton adjourned the inquest for a full hearing to take place on Wednesday, September 23.
