Lorenz Hutchinson’s star continues to rise with the promising young Leicester City striker scoring on his England debut.

Hutchinson has been in superb form for City’s youth teams this term, with a combined 27 goals and assists in 22 games across Under-18 and Under-21 league matches.

That form earned him a maiden Three Lions call-up with England Under-18s, and he’s made an immediate impression, netting off the bench.

Facing Bulgaria in their first qualifying match for next summer’s Under-19 European Championships on Wednesday, England raced into a 3-0 half-time lead, with Reigan Heskey, son of City icon Emile, on the scoresheet.

Bulgaria pulled one back in the second half, but Hutchinson, on as a 70th-minute substitute, made his mark, the striker alert to follow in a rebound and put the cherry on the win in added time.

That Hutchinson is again on a scoresheet, this time at international level, will see further calls from supporters for him to be given a first-team chance, especially with City’s senior strikers Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew both struggling for form.

It is, however, unlikely, with manager Gary Rowett selecting experienced players for City’s relegation fight.

Hutchinson is certainly making a claim to be involved in the first team from next season though. Louis Page and Jeremy Monga, both firm fixtures in the senior squad this term, playing in the same game for England Under-18s, both included in the starting line-up.

All three will hope for further involvement in the next two qualifying matches, with England facing Spain on Saturday and Croatia next Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Divine Mukasa started for England Under-19s as they lost 2-0 to Serbia on Wednesday.

They now likely have to win their games against Poland and Portugal on Saturday and Tuesday in order to qualify for the finals of this summer’s U19s Euros.

Young City midfielder Hugo De Lisle was a late substitute as England Under-17s beat Faroe Islands 3-0 in an U17s Euros qualifier.

The final two City players in England youth action are centre-back Ben Nelson and full-back Bade Aluko with England Under-21s and Under-20s respectively.

Nelson and the Under-21s play Andorra on Friday and Moldova on Tuesday in Euros qualifying, while Aluko and the Under-20s play their only game, a friendly against Italy, on Saturday.
