Premier League’s record goalscorer has included Brighton talisman Danny Welbeck in his line-up
The Premier League’s record goalscorer Alan Shearer has named his Team of the Week for Matchweek 31, featuring three players from Brighton & Hove Albion — including Danny Welbeck, their matchwinner against Liverpool.
Welbeck scored twice in the Seagulls’ 2-1 home victory, taking the 35-year-old’s tally to 12 goals for the season, his highest total for one Premier League campaign. He is joined in Shearer’s line-up by Brighton team-mates Ferdi Kadioglu and Jan Paul van Hecke following their impressive displays in defence.
Nottingham Forest also have a trio in the XI, after Matz Sels, Nikola Milenkovic and Morgan Gibbs-White were all picked as standout performers in a stunning 3-0 success away at relegation rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Victor Pereira — who masterminded that win, his first in the Premier League as Forest’s head coach — has been selected as the manager of Shearer’s side.
