Manchester United fell to a 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford in their Women’s Champions League quarter-final first leg vs Bayern Munich.
United conceded during Bayern’s first attack as a long ball forward picked out Pernille Harder who finished comfortably. The Reds equalised 20 minutes later as Lea Schuller won a penalty for handball that Maya Le Tissier converted.
Harder scored an identical goal to pull Bayern ahead again but Hanna Lundkvist equalised immediately with a header. Substitute Momoka Tanikawa’s strike eventually wrapped up a victory for the visitors.

Here are the player ratings from tonight’s game.
Starting XI
Phallon Tullis Joyce
Beaten with the first shot of the game. Settled after that. 6.
Hanna Lundkvist
Sloppy in possession in the first half but wasn’t the only one. Rose well for her goal. 6.
Maya Le Tissier
Confidently scored the penalty and was a rock at the back. However, she was caught out for the second. 7.
Millie Turner
Nearly scored a horrendous own goal shortly before the equaliser. Settled after it. 6.
Fridolina Rolfo
A solid first half without any major errors or moments of note. Too easily beaten in the second half at one stage but otherwise an okay display. 6.
Julia Zigiotti
Lively against her former club. A better pass could have led to a Malard goal though. 6.
Hinata Miyazawa
Took time to warm into the game after arriving back from Australia earlier this week. Replaced by Awujo. 6.
Lisa Naalsund
Tried to bring her team up the pitch but guilty, like a few, of a sloppy pass. 6.
Jess Park
Quiet first half as United struggled. Switched sides briefly in the second half and looked better but reverted back to the right soon after and wasn’t as effective. 6.
Lea Schuller
Brilliant run that won the penalty and had some good chances. Replaced by Riviere. 7.
Melvine Malard
Dangerous when given a chance but that was too infrequent in the first half. Was the player to get United fans off their seats in the second 45 minutes. 7.
Subs
Simi Awujo
Limited chances when coming on. 6.
Jayde Riviere
Same as Awujo as she returned from injury. 6.
