Mohamed Salah has been rumoured to be leaving all season, but his Liverpool exit has now been set in stone.
It wasn’t a massive surprise, but the sudden nature of the announcement was.
Liverpool released a statement wishing Salah well, and the Egyptian released his own tribute to the fans after news broke.
Football moves fast, and so does Fabrizio Romano. He’s already laying out the next step for the Reds as they enter the post-Salah era.
Just how bad do you want Arne Slot gone? 😬

The Italian prides himself on accuracy, but also timeliness.
Just an hour after the club’s announcement, he took to YouTube to discuss the exit, and what it means for Liverpool’s summer recruitment.
He said: “Liverpool will go for wingers in the summer, could be one, could be two, depends on the opportunities, but they will go for wingers. Liverpool will be smart, of course, Champions League football or not will be important for the investment, so we have to understand.
“But for sure Liverpool are targeting wingers. Expect them to be active. There are several players they are monitoring, in terms of names I will tell you more soon. I think today it’s correct we dedicate this update and this video to Mohamed Salah, this moment to Mohamed Salah, because he’s a legend of the game.

“But the impact of this is going in two directions: Liverpool will buy one or two wingers in the transfer window and they will be really active, and Mohamed Salah now ready to assess proposals and try something different.”
The most noteworthy part there is that Liverpool still want wide attacking talent despite suggestions that a system change is on the cards for Arne Slot.
A bit of a tease from Romano, who is holding off on providing a transfer shortlist, but we already know many of the names most likely to be pursued.
Michael Olise is the ideal Salah replacement, but that could prove quite difficult. We know Yan Diomande is in the picture, Moussa Diaby of Al-Ittihad has been floated, and PSG’s duo of Bradley Barcola and Desire Doue are very tempting as well.
If you could buy ANY Premier League player right now, who are you signing for Liverpool this summer?

Just who is actually available for a summer move remains to be seen, but you can be sure the decision from Salah will expedite the recruitment process.
