A small group of four caravans was reported in Commercial Street Car Park on Haynes Road, opposite Bitterne Health Centre, on Tuesday, March 17.

A spokesperson for Southampton City Council confirmed that the group was served notice on Friday, March 20, and have since left the site.

Cllr Rob Harwood said they moved to Royal Victoria Country Park in Eastleigh, but have now moved on from there as well.

He added that he and his fellow Conservative councillors asked the council to charge the group for parking, as Commercial Street is a pay-to-park car park, but they were told this would not happen.

The council was made aware of them on Wednesday, March 18 and completed welfare checks.

They was originally expected to leave on Thursday, March 19.
