Leeds United are interested in signing Southampton midfielder Finn Azaz ahead of the summer transfer window, with Daniel Farke believed to be keen on the Republic of Ireland international, according to Sports Boom.

Azaz made the move to St Mary’s Stadium at the beginning of the season, joining the club from fellow Championship side Middlesbrough.

Since arriving at the club, he’s played a key role, and Tonda Eckert has been full of praise for the impact he’s made since he took over from Will Still.

“Also, something that is not seen as much as the way he applies himself when we don’t have the ball. If you could see the distance he covers. And he applies himself, being able to play 90 minutes again and again and again and again. I think it shows that he is progressing. He’s a top character, and a top player to have in the team, and I think there’s lots more to come. I never doubt his quality. He’s been outstanding.”

Leeds Plotting Southampton Move

Finn Azaz

According to a report from Sports Boom, Leeds United are showing an interest in signing Southampton midfielder Azaz ahead of the summer transfer window.

Farke has reportedly given the green light, with the Leeds boss also keen on the 25-year-old, who has scored nine goals in the Championship so far this season.

Leeds aren’t the only side showing an interest. Another Premier League outfit, Brighton, are also scouting Azaz, who made the move to St Mary’s from Middlesbrough for a fee in the region of £12m last summer.

Whether the Saints would be willing to sell Azaz remains to be seen, but they are in a strong negotiating position, considering he’ll have three years remaining on his contract in the summer.

Would Finn Azaz Suit Leeds’ Style?

Finn Azaz - Championship - Norwich City v Middlesbrough

GIVEMESPORT asked ChatGPT whether Azaz would be a good fit for Farke and Leeds’ style of play.

Finn Azaz is a dynamic attacking midfielder with strong dribbling, creativity, and work rate.

Leeds United F.C. under Daniel Farke prioritises possession control, positional play, and vertical combinations.

Azaz’s ability to link play and carry the ball into half-spaces suits Farke’s build-up phases.

His pressing intensity and transition contributions align with Farke’s collective defensive triggers.

Technical output supports intricate patterns, but consistency against elite defenders is required.

Might need adaptation to strict tactical roles and defensive responsibilities.

Verdict: A good stylistic fit, particularly as a creative engine in advanced midfield.
