Officers from Dorset Police were called to Castle Street at around 9.45pm on Sunday, March 22, following reports of a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “The pedestrian, a man aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be serious.
“Officers left the scene at around 10:40pm.”
Ambulance services were called prior to the police and confirmed that the individual was taken to Poole Hospital.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: “We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and a critical care car to the scene. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Poole Hospital.”
Morebus confirmed the bus driver had seen an individual ‘staggering along the pavement’ and despite giving him a wide berth, he ended up falling and making contact with the back of the vehicle.
Mike Freeborn, Morebus area operations manager said: “Our driver observed an individual who was staggering along the pavement, so intentionally gave him a wide berth.
“Unfortunately, the person fell from the pavement and made minor contact with the back of the bus. Police arrived, and allowed our driver to continue with the service.
“We don’t know at this time if the pedestrian sustained any injuries. However, they were attended to at the scene by paramedics.”
