A fire has broken out in a house in Freshfield Street, Brighton.
Seven fire engines are currently on the scene. Neighbours are being asked to keep their windows and doors closed.
A spokeswoman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue said: “We were called at 2.28pm to reports of a domestic dwelling fire in Freshfield Street, Brighton.
“As of 2.57pm we have seven fire engines in attendance which includes support from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
“Crews are currently using four breathing apparatus, two hosereel jets, one main jet, one hydrant, firefighting foam and the Aerial Ladder Platform to tackle the fire.
“Please avoid the area and local residents please keep windows and doors closed.
“Further updates to follow.”
By 3.30pm, the smoke was no longer billowing from the house, but crews were still working at the scene.
