New courses are launching to support women through the emotional and physical changes of menopause.

A programme will begin at BH Live Active in Littledown to offer a supportive environment focused on wellbeing and confidence building.

The first of the four six-week confidence courses, Rise and Shine, starts on Thursday, April 16.

Each session includes a different activity—such as circuits or Pilates—followed by a light breakfast and discussion time in the Terrace Café.

Viv Galpin, Bournemouth Health & Wellbeing Manager, said: “Perimenopause and menopause can bring significant physical and emotional changes.

“We know that stepping into a leisure centre can sometimes feel daunting and may be the last thing you feel like doing.

“Through our Rise and Shine courses, we want to make that first step easier by creating a welcoming, supportive space where women can get active together and improve their health and wellbeing.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support from the AFC Bournemouth Cherries Community Fund, which has helped us create something truly meaningful for our community.”

The programme is supported by AFC Bournemouth’s Cherries Community Fund, reducing the cost to £20 per person.

Courses are capped at 25 participants, with further sessions planned from June to October 2026.
