A planning application proposes redeveloping a prominent site in Barton on Sea, replacing the existing dealership at 2-4 Sea Road with housing and a convenience store.
The scheme would see the current building demolished and replaced with a three-storey development, featuring a ground-floor retail unit and nine flats above. Parking, cycle storage and landscaping are also included.
Planning documents say the design has been shaped to reflect the surrounding area, with a mix of one, two and three-storey elements and the use of traditional materials such as brick and render. The top floor would be set within the roof to reduce its visual impact.
Developers say the scheme would deliver modern homes built to current standards, with energy-efficient features and good access to public transport and local amenities.
The application will be considered by New Forest District Council at a later date.
