Nottingham Forest thrashed Tottenham to breathe life into their relegation battle, and Taiwo Awoniyi is a man well up for the challenge.
Forest’s predicament isn’t great, but after yesterday’s win, Vitor Pereira has led the team to a Europa League quarter-final and a huge win over Tottenham to move up to 16th in the Premier League table.
Awoniyi has constantly been a fan favourite at the City Ground since checking in from Union Berlin shortly after Forest won promotion to the Premier League in 2022.

Taiwo Awoniyi suggests he wants Nottingham Forest future
What happened at Tottenham was just remarkable, and one thing Pereira has achieved is uniting the fan base and all of his players.
Awoniyi scored a brilliant goal and then headed straight over the away end at the full-time whistle, slapping the badge on his chest with his trademark smile on his face.
Awoniyi hasn’t been considered a regular starter under any Forest manager this season, and under Nuno Espirito Santo, the chances of him featuring at all felt relatively bleak.
Where Sean Dyche failed was alienating the fringe players, throwing them under the bus following drab performances against Wrexham and Braga in the FA Cup and Europa League, respectively.
However, Awoniyi has never given up on his chances of making his mark on the Forest team again and right now he looks as fit, as sharp and as lively as he’s ever looked when he gets on the pitch.
He’s playing so well at the moment…😍
His goal yesterday showcased amazing movement inside the penalty area and although the cross from Neco Williams was pinpoint, the Nigerian still needed to show the composure to finish the chance.
What happens to Awoniyi in the summer remains to be seen. However, his performance at Tottenham, coupled with his reaction at full-time, does a lot to suggest that he cares deeply about playing for Forest and highlights his supreme professionalism.
