Arsenal take on Manchester City at Wembley today but asking to pick an XI out of the two best squads in the league is almost impossible.

Still, that’s what Joe Cole has attempted to do before kick-off, as he was given a selection dilemma in each position between two players.

Interestingly, Cole made some quite surprising choices as Arsenal’s obvious strengths were cashed in on by the former England man.

Picking between the two best teams in the league is difficult but Joe Cole gave it a good go before the EFL Cup final gets underway.

Asked to pick between two players, Cole went with City stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma over David Raya.

However, Arsenal’s defence then rose to the challenge, with Cole going with Gabriel, Saliba, Timber and Calafiori making up the entire back four.

In midfield, Cole opted for Rodri over Zubimendi, but did go with Declan Rice over the seasoned veteran Bernardo Silva.

In attack, though, it was a City heavy feel.

Only Bukayo Saka got the nod for Arsenal ahead of Antoine Semenyo, while Rayan Cherki and Jeremy Doku were picked over Eberechi Eze and Leandro Trossard.

As expected, Erling Haaland was the main man in attack as Cole went with him over Viktor Gyokeres.
