Poole coastguards were called on March 11 at 3.55 pm.

There were reports of a person in the water at Whitecliff, Arne.

They were tasked by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre to an incident in Poole Harbour along with HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter R387, Kimmeridge Coastguard, RNLI Poole Lifeboat and ILB.

En route to the rendezvous point, the team were diverted to set up the Helicopter Landing Site at Whitecliff.

Once on scene the area was cleared and made safe for the incoming HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter.

R387 landed and the casualty was transferred into the care of an ambulance of South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

With emergency service vehicles moved to a safe distance, R387 then departed. The site was reopened.

A spokesperson for Poole coastguard said: “Once all emergency service vehicles had departed, the JRCC content, a small debrief was held on scene, the team thanked by JRCC and then we returned to our station.”

Dorset Police and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance critical care team also in attendance.
