Leeds United will bring an important Saturday of football to a close this evening when hosting Brentford at Elland Road.

We’re into the final stretch now in the Premier League with just eight games remaining for the majority of teams and still so much to play for across the whole division.

For the Whites, the focus is on the bottom of the table and trying to get as far away from the relegation zone as possible and ultimately get to safety. So far so good in that regard with Leeds sat 15th, but just three points separates them and West Ham United in 18th, so Daniel Farke and his team know they need to make the most of their opportunities at home.

Ahead of tonight’s late kick-off, here’s how some of the pundits see the game.

Alan Shearer speaking to Betfair

This is a massive game. Leeds needs the support of the fans for this one and a lot more against Brentford who are tricky opposition.

They were brilliant in the first half on Monday night but then were terrible in the second half defensively. They’ll be looking to bounce back. I’m going to go for a home win because the crowd will get them going.

It’s crazy we are talking about Brentford for European football next season. That just tells you, doesn’t it? It’s been such a strange season in many ways, but there are one or two clubs that can take advantage of that. We’ve mentioned Everton and Brentford are another one of those clubs.

Keith Andrews is doing a fantastic job this season. Even us talking about Brentford with a chance to get into Europe tells you how well they’ve done, but I think Leeds need the win more and will take the three points on Saturday.

Prediction: Leeds win

Chris Sutton on BBC Sport

The way Brentford will set up is almost tailor-made to face Leeds, really, to hit them on the counter-attack.

Keith Andrews’s side are pushing for Europe and they will be annoyed they let a 2-0 lead slip in their 2-2 draw with Wolves on Monday.

There could be some nervy moments for the home fans when the Bees break forward, but I am still going to back Leeds to get the job done at Elland Road.

Prediction: Leeds win

Harry Redknapp speaking to BetVictor

A big game for Leeds. It felt like they were edging towards safety, but the wins have dried up and all of a sudden, they’ll be looking over their shoulders again. Still, three points here would put them in a good position.

Keith Andrews will be very frustrated at the last two games. They’ve had an amazing season but to not beat Wolves at home will hurt, particularly as they still have a chance of qualifying for Europe.

My one to watch is Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He’s back in the England squad and had a great season. A good run of form to end the season and that could seal his spot on the plane to America.

Prediction: Draw
