The airline Aurigny has cancelled some flights over the next six days due to staff sickness and a lack of crew at Skybus, which runs the services.
The Guernsey States-owned operator says its Alderney-Southampton and Alderney-Guernsey routes will be disrupted from Saturday 21 to Thursday 26 March.
Aurigny says all affected passengers are being emailed alternative options and there is no need to contact the airline directly.
It also states that the “unforeseen pilot absence at Skybus … is the sole cause of the disruption”.
Skybus is contracted by Aurigny to operate its services to and from Alderney.
Jonathan Hinkles, Managing Director at Skybus, adds in a statement: “I would like to apologise unreservedly for the inconvenience caused to the community in Alderney.
“We care deeply about this mission and understand the importance of delivering vital lifeline services to island communities – and we recognise this falls short of what is expected.
“We are doing everything we can to complete flight training for crews dedicated to Aurigny’s Twin Otter services, which will build appropriate resilience for Alderney’s connectivity long into the future.”
Philip Saunders, Chief Commercial Officer at Aurigny, explains: “As the community would expect, we are working closely with Skybus at this time to ensure that services meet the standards our communities deserve.
“Our dedicated customer services team are on hand to provide all the support you would expect with amending itineraries as required.”
