Alisson will miss Liverpool’s game against Brighton & Hove Albion with a new injury setback.

The goalkeeper is not part of the travelling contingent and is expected to be replaced by Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The 33-year-old has also been replaced in the Brazil squad by Corinthians goalkeeper Hugo Souza for friendlies against France and Croatia after initially being included in the side by head coach Carlo Anceloitti.

After missing the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 clash with Galatasaray with a muscle injury, Alisson returned for the home fixture after also starting in the Premier League draw with Tottenham Hotspur in-between.

Liverpool are not risking any further aggravation with their first-choice stopper for their visit to the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

He has made 34 appearances in all competitions for the club this season, keeping 13 clean sheets. He dealt with a hamstring issue earlier in the campaign that kept him out for a month-and-a-half.

Alisson extended his contract at Anfield earlier this month when Liverpool activated the one year option in his deal. He’s suffered a number of injuries in recent years which is why Mamardashvili was signed as a strong understudy.

The Georgian is set to start his fifth Premier League game in the 12:30pm kick-off on Saturday and his 12th in all competitions.
