Enzo Fernandez on Maresca’s departure: “Sometimes there are things that we as players don’t understand—how and in what way they (Chelsea) try to manage things… it was a departure that hurt us a lot… he always had a very clear identity.”

  1. Absolutely finished this season and probably next season and maybe ever

Firing Maresca was officially the end, players will give up from now

If these translations are accurate, which they may not be, but if they are. And situations like these begin to happen more and more before the end of the season, I would sell if I’m honest. Could very easily turn toxic. I really like Enzo but he was kissing the Benfica badge making an I’m staying gesture after scoring, about 10 days before we bought him. Would love to be wrong but just looking at it practically.

You had people here (and still do) claiming the players were glad Maresca left, that he had lost the dressing room etc etc

He brought them 2 trophies, a winning mentality, and probably above all else a level of stability. They clearly loved him, and Enzo’s performances last season and this season under him should be enough to show how well Maresca’s coaching suited him.

The board are going to realise they monumentally fucked up letting Maresca leave, if they haven’t already

  4. Just have to stop the circular chairs of managers. Imagine our 9×5 with 5 new bosses in 5 years. Unsettling chaotic environment.

  5. And where is the rest of the video? It looks like it wasn’t finished, he was mid-sentence.

I said no point sacking Maresca if we hire Liam. At least with Enzo we won 2 trophies. This is a joke of a team but everything leads back to the board. Enzo has elite mentality. He has scored a lot of late goals and won the craziest WC ever.

Liam is a young coach. Ligue 1 or championship was what he needed

  7. People have a hard time when players are honest. This is not saying they’ll down tools, it’s saying they now have to deal with a new manager and a new identity, far from ideal.
