Bournemouth vs Man Utd betting tips

Manchester United make the long trip south to the Vitality Stadium this evening, looking to keep up their impressive form under interim boss Michael Carrick (8pm, Sky Sports Main Event).

The former Middlesbrough manager has overseen seven wins, one draw and one defeat since taking over following the sacking of Ruben Amorim, leaving United well placed to secure a top-four finish.

Last Sunday’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa leaves United third in the Premier League table, three points clear of Villa and five ahead of Liverpool in fifth.

They are also seven places and 13 points ahead of Friday’s opponents, Bournemouth, who sit 10th, just one place below where they finished last season.

Andoni Iraola’s side go into the game unbeaten in their last 10 league games; their problem has been too many draws, including the last four games in a row against West Ham, Sunderland, Brentford and Burnley.

They have drawn more games than anyone else in the league so far, with 14, while United have finished level nine times, and the price for another stalemate on some betting sites may appeal to plenty of punters. Add to that the fact that three of the last four meetings between the two sides have finished all square and those prices start to look even better.

Bournemouth vs Man Utd betting preview: Cherries to finally find the net

Many people were worried how the Cherries would cope with the departure of Antoine Semenyo in January, when he joined Manchester City for £65m after scoring 10 goals this season.

They seemed to adapt to life without him well, with seven goals in their first three matches, including three against Newcastle and Liverpool,

But recently they have struggled in front of goal with just one in their last four matches, but they have been saved by their defence, who have conceded just once in those games.

The fans at the Vitality would love to see some goals on Friday, but they just may come at the wrong end. Since Carrick took charge in January, United have scored 18 goals in nine games and conceded just nine.

In the same period, Bournemouth have scored 10 in nine and conceded just seven. Although the previous meeting between the two sides finished 4-4 at Old Trafford in December, I can’t see this game beating that one for goals or excitement – especially not for the home side.

Despite failing to score in their last two matches, Iraola’s side have had 35 shots and five on target, so surely, it’s only a matter of time before they are celebrating?

Fernandes to keep leading by example

Bruno Fernandes has been invaluable to Manchester United this season, with seven goals and 16 assists in his 27 Premier League appearances.

He was the provider for Casimero’s opening goal on Sunday, at home to Aston Villa, before he played an excellent through ball to send Cunha racing clear of the Villa defence, and the former Wolves striker made no mistake to retake the lead for United.

In eight league appearances against Friday’s opponents, the Portuguese international has four goals and four assists to his name, and he was on target in the last meeting. He’s available at 13/5 on some football betting sites to add to his tally.

His last goal came in the 2-1 win over Palace, and he has just 10 in 30 games for club and country so far, which is a far cry from the 21 he scored last season, so he will be looking for more goals ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

United are unbeaten in the games he has scored in, drawing one against Bournemouth and winning the other five.
